THE widow accused of causing the d£ath of her husband, whose skeleton was found in her house, has admitted preventing police from conducting a search at her house.
Sylvia Mutaba, 52, told Lusaka High Court Judge Anne Malata-Onunuju that she and her daughters never allowed the cops to access the premises the day her husband’s body was discovered.
“…we were not allowing them to enter, we prevented them from entering, we did not open the door and they started banging the door,” Mutaba said.
She also revealed that she once told her husband’s friends who went to visit him that he was not around, when in fact he was in the house.
“When they came [in December 2023], they asked for my husband and I said he had gone out but he was inside the house,” Mutaba said.
She is accused of unlawfully causing the death of George Kalaba, 51, whose skeleton was found in his house in January this year, over a year after he fell ill in June 2023, and later died.
