Mwalala Rural Health Center in Chama District of Eastern Province has been blown off following heavy rains coupled with strong winds experienced in the area.

Mwalala Rural Health Center in-charge, John Lungu, confirmed the incident, which he said happened today around 15:45 hours.

Mr. Lungu says the five rooms affected include the adolescent room, admission room, pharmacy, dispensing room, and laboratory.

He added that the waiting and the screening rooms have not been affected.

Mr Lungu said the drugs have not been damaged as they were stored on shelves and the roofing had a ceiling board.

He says urgent intervention is required, as the facility provides health services to more than 7,000 people, including surrounding areas, such as Mulopwe, Ng’aanjo Chibwato.
