A 40-year-old Community Health Assistant has died in a fatal road traffic accident in Chama District of Eastern Province.
Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer, Robertson Mweemba, has confirmed the incident, stating that the accident occurred on Wednesday, 26th November 2025, around 17:50 hours in Dungulungu Village, about 10 kilometres east of Chama Town.
The deceased has been identified as John Zimba of Chibilima Village, Chief Kambombo, who was riding an unregistered Shanray motorcycle.
Mr. Mweemba says the accident happened due to excessive speed, causing the rider to lose control of the motorcycle.
He said the rider fell on the left side of the road and sustained internal injuries, leading to his death on the spot.
The body has since been deposited in the Chama District Hospital mortuary.
Mr. Mweemba has urged road users to exercise patience and follow road signage to prevent such tragedies.
