A 10-year-old boy has died after being struck by lightning in Chief Magodi’s Chiefdom in Chasefu District of Eastern Province, as he was herding cattle.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner Robertson Mweemba confirmed the incident, stating that it occurred yesterday, 29th November 2025, around 14:00 hours.
The deceased, identified as Moses Nali of Chilwayo Village, had taken the cattle to nearby fields around 13:00 hours when it began to rain. He sought shelter under a mango tree, where he was struck by lightning.
The lightning hit him on the head and travelled down the left side of his body through the chest, partially burning his clothes.
Police who inspected the body confirmed that no foul play is suspected.
The body has since been released to the family for burial.
