Mr. Chizu is an entrepreneur, Business Consultant, public speaker, and author whose works highlight business growth and social development. He is affiliated with the Book Publishers Association of Zambia, the Zambia Institute of Marketing and the Institute of Commercial Management-(UK).Lewis Chizu did his grade one to grade five at Mpulungu Primary School & grade five to grade seven at Chifwani Primary School in Kasama. He went to Kasama Boys Secondary Day School, Mungwi Boys Technical Boarding School & later completed his grade twelve at Mbala Secondry Boarding School.

Mr. Chizu Lewis said-having been on the previous-2021 general elections campaign trail of which he worked so hard on the ground in Mpulungu Constituency and having continued practically being on the ground with the grass roots to engage the people of Mpulungu Constituency. He explains that while many have questioned why he rarely posts on social media, his focus has always been on real engagement—meeting the people where they are rather than chasing online attention. Quoting Ephesians 1:11, he believes leadership is a calling guided by God’s purpose. For many years, he has lived by the principle of Mathew C6 V 33-of seeking God’s Kingdom first in all things.

Lewis emphasizes that true leadership is not social media noise—it is grassroots work, sacrifice, and character, because I know that to win an election you must first engage the actual voters on the ground from the grassroots of your Constituency and not just through the postings of your stories on social media like some of the ‘’Political Job seekers & Opportunists’’ are doing for Mpulungu Constituency, but without true heart of servant leadership. I’m just a servant leader of the people-I have never gotten a ‘’formal job’’ which comes with a monthly salary in my life time, but I have paid myself a salary from the works of my business in my entire life & I have lived well & I also manage to pay my few workers & I find joy when I see some youths who work for my company progressing. My Dad died when I was only seventeen years old & I never inherited any ‘’tangible riches’’ from him, the only thing I inherited from my Dad is ‘’a good name’’ & ‘’spiritual riches”. My capital has been my mind & my personal story has been that of resilience & hard work coupled with God’s love. In my entire life I have used ideas, personal creativity & innovations to create something of my personal tangible riches & properties & intellectual properties out of nothing or rather from scratches & I have done things in a straight way with integrity. I’m here to take up the-‘’mantle of true servant leadership of sacrifice & honor’’-just like my own Dad’s legacy which the people of Mpulungu Constituency remembers with honor as un-beaten record up to today in year-2025.

Lewis Chizu further stated that before talking about himself and his involvement and contributions for Mpulungu Constituency and its people-(Lewis said the detailed topics of himself shall come in other next episodes and chapters next time as events un-fold towards elections). First of all let me talk about how much the people of Mpulungu Constituency still remember the things my own biological father did for them when he was still a Member of Parliament for the Constituency and how much the name still resonates everywhere in Mpulungu Constituency even in his death and these true practical living stories have been passed on to this modern generation and that is why? this generation keeps on demanding for someone who carries within himself ‘’a clear DNA’’ of exceptional and selfless leadership to take up the mantle of leadership for Mpulungu Constituency in order to bring about the desired practical developments in Mpulungu Constituency to make people’s lives better just like what my own biological father did during his tenure of office.

12-LESSONS FROM MY OWN BIOLOGICAL FATHER & WHY HE NEVER LOST ANY ELECTION HE PARTICIPATED:

1. Clean Water and Sewerage Development:My father is fondly remembered for having been the only Member of Parliament for Mpulungu Constituency since Zambia got its independence in 1964 to have managed to install clean water liticulation system with running water from the taps in all the townships and villages of Mpulungu Constituency and proper sewerage system. But these have all been vandalized as we speak now Mpulungu Constituency has no running water from the taps anywhere in the villages & townships, irrespective of it being endowed with Lake Tanganyika which is one of the deepest & biggest lakes in Africa and Mpulungu is also surrounded by so many big rivers and water bodies including the Mighty Kalambo falls-one of the deepest water falls in the world, but surprisingly-people of Mpulungu in other succeeding Administrations and their respective Member of Parliaments have continued to suffer water liticulation problems and Mpulungu Constituency now has no Sewerage System and that is why there are frequent out breaks of Cholera in Mpulungu Constituency.

2. Fighting Corruption with Courage:He was known for confronting corruption directly and promoting accountability. Public resources-he insisted, must benefit the people—not individuals.

3. Service in the Independence Struggle:He is remembered as a Mpulungu freedom fighter who was with Dr. Kaunda’s team, but because of the nature of the struggles they had before getting independence he did not stay long with Kaunda’s team, instead he was moved from Lusaka City into Southern Rhodesia in Harare now called Zimbabwe in 1954 when he was only 20-years old as a youth where he ended up making a working career which spurned for a period of 15-years of his life & only came back to Zambia in 1969 after Zambia had gotten its Independence & established his own food supplying businesses & fishing company in Mpulungu Constituency & played politics once again.

4. Donating Free Fish to Villages:He is also remembered as the only Business Man in Mpulungu Constituency who used to donate free fish to the villages in Mpulungu Constituency from his own fishing company before he became a Member of Parliament for Mpulungu Constituency as part of the social responsibility of the company in the community in which it operates. The other quantities of fish where then transported to the markets of Lusaka and Copperbelt Province for sale to make profits & this story is more pronounced in villages along Lake Tanganyika such as Chipwa Village, Chisanza Village, Kawe, Kapata, Chituta, Sondwa, Posa & Kasasa villages along the lake show & these has been the same stories old people who are still alive today usually tell me whenever I visit them & these practical stories have been told to their children & grandchildren.

5. Investing in People Over Wealth:He is remembered as someone who believed in investing in people and not in material possessions. He only owned expensive things like trucks and vehicles and built his own houses and business premises when he was still a businessman & from his professional job of 15-years Career outside Zambia, but when he assumed political office-he only built one house through-out his tenure of office as a State Minister & a Member of Parliament of which he later donated that same house whilst he was still serving in his political office. He left political office without having built a single house of his own & since he donated the only one house he built whilst serving as a State Minister-he went back to live in his old houses he built when he was still a businessman, before he joined politics.

6. Empowering Communities through Jobs and Capital:He is remembered of having empowered many people with jobs during his tenure of office and many others were empowered with capital investments to run their own entrepreneur businesses which improved the general standards of living for general citizenry in Mpulungu Constituency.

7. A Unifying Leader Across Tribes & Backgrounds:He is also remembered as ‘’a unifying factor’’ for uniting the people together, irrespective of their tribes and backgrounds. He used to advocate for justice and fairy play as a virtue of life for every individual person.

8. Providing Accommodation and Food to Mpulungu Residents:He is remembered as at a time he was a Mbala District Governor & even when he ascended to the Provincial level in Northern Province at the Headquarters in Kasama & eventually as a State Minister in Lusaka-that no Mpulungu resident who had to travel to Kasama or Lusaka ever booked at a Lodge/Hotel or slept at a Bus Station, because he used to provide them with accommodation as well as providing them with free food, until they got through with whatever their personal activities or businesses they came to do. He turned each of every his home as a community house for Mpulungu residents, but some leaders who originate from Mpulungu once they are put into Senior government positions of power & influence most residents from Mpulungu will not even know where their offices & homes are found. They only look caring & concerned at a time when they are hunting for a job or when they are soliciting for votes.

9. Free Transportation During Hard Times:He is remembered for providing free transportation using his personal vehicles to people who were going for work & for different errands, in those olden days when it was very difficult to even own a bicycle & extremely few people owned their own vehicles & at a time when people used to walk long distances. In Mpulungu Constituency-people now pay for Yango Taxes and motor bike rides, if you do not have transport money of your own, it means you are on your own. That ‘’Ubuntu & sacrifices for our people” which our fathers had-has died gradually nowadays from the hearts & minds of most people & leaders alike.

10. Supporting Education for Relatives and Orphans:He is also remembered for having kept many of his relatives at his own home-including his extended relatives and making sure that all of them attained better education and for having kept many orphans & gave them a better education from the people of his Mpulungu Constituency who were not even blood related to him.

11. Sacrifice for Mpulungu’s Health Needs:Mpulungu old clinic had no mortuary or ambulance in those old days. Families brought dead bodies of their loved ones to his home at any hour as their MP. He used his own vehicles and fuel to transport them 150 km to Mbala Hospital which had a mortuary. As a child, I also witnessed him caring for abandoned cholera patients by their relatives at his home—risking his personal life to save others. These painful experiences drove him to advocate for a local mortuary and ambulance. The mortuary were built after his tenure, but he laid the foundation.

12. A Record-Breaking MP:Since independence in 1964, all MPs in Mpulungu served only one term—except him. He became the first to win more than one term and remains the only MP who never lost an election. Even when urged to run again, he refused on principle, saying a leader who stays too long becomes disconnected from the people.

DECLARATION FOR 2026

Having spent much more time interacting with ordinary people on the grass roots in different villages who cannot even afford to buy ‘’Smart Phones’’ to see social media postings & some do not even know how to use a ‘’Smart Phone’’, I know that the social media Aspiring Candidates for Mpulungu Constituency are not popular on the ground with the grass roots & that is why? Most of them are fighting so hard & hoping to be adopted by the already popular political party with power in the Constituency, so that the popular party with power can be the one to make them to win a 2026-election & that is why? There is so much in-fighting, acrimony & divisions within certain named political party in Mpulungu Constituency. Therefore, after years of listening to the people, working with the grassroots, and witnessing the internal divisions within a certain party perceived to be with power, I draw wisdom from Proverbs 20:18: “Every purpose is established by counsel, and with good advice make war.”

With humility and conviction, I declare my candidature as an Independent Member of Parliament for Mpulungu Constituency in the 2026 General Elections.
