Vice President Mutale Nalumango says increased water levels in the Kafue River are a major reason load-shedding hours have reduced across the country.‎‎

Speaking during Vice President’s Question Time in Parliament, Nalumango said the improved water flow has boosted power generation at the Kafue Gorge Power Station, which is now producing more electricity than it did in recent months.‎‎

She noted that while she has not yet received a recent assessment of the Kariba Dam, she can confirm that generation at Kafue has significantly improved.‎‎

Nalumango added that power imports, coordinated by Energy Minister Makozo Chikote under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema, have further helped stabilise electricity supply.‎‎

She also said alternative solar energy projects being rolled out across the country are beginning to add power to the national grid.‎‎

The Vice President was responding to a question from Nkana Member of Parliament Binwell Mpundu.
