Police in Eastern Province have arrested Chama District Agriculture Coordinator (DACO) Danny Musukwa and District Marketing Development Officer Wilson Banda over suspected illegal possession of fertiliser under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP).
Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba confirmed the development to Kwenje Radio News, saying officers recovered 30 by 50-kilogramme bags of fertiliser from Mr Banda’s farm in Chikweyeye Village.
Mr Mweemba said the suspects have been charged and detained in police custody and are expected to appear in court soon.
Meanwhile, police recently apprehended an agriculture assistant and the vice chairperson of Kalovya Agriculture Camp Committee in Chama District for allegedly diverting 295 bags of fertiliser (50kg each) meant for farmers under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP).
