The Livingstone Magistrate Court has once again adjourned the delivery of judgment in a case which Livingstone Mayor, Constance Muleabai, is facing two counts of corrupt practices.‎‎

The matter was initially expected to be concluded on 17 December 2025, but proceedings stalled when the presiding Resident Magistrate, Trevor Kasanda, was unable to travel to Livingstone to hand down the verdict.‎‎

Defence lawyers expressed dissatisfaction with the development, arguing that the State should have communicated the change in advance to avoid unnecessary travel and related expenses.‎‎

However, the court clarified that the adjournment was not deliberate and assured all parties that judgment would be delivered in January.‎‎

Muleabai is facing corrupt practices charges, in which she is accused of soliciting K120,000 and later obtaining K180,000 from businessman Mark Gabites.

‎‎The alleged payments were purportedly meant to induce her to facilitate the cancellation of property rates bills at the Livingstone City Council.‎‎

Due to Magistrate Kasanda’s inability to travel to Livingston, The case has since been placed before Chief Resident Magistrate Manyepa Kalifano, who adjourned it to 19 January 2026.‎‎

Muleabai has been appearing on police bond throughout the proceedings, which remains in force pending the delivery of Judgement.‎
