One person has died while five others seriously injured in a road traffic accident at Makeni Fly Over Bridge along Kafue road that occurred at around 05hrs today. Police Spokesperson Godfrey Chilabi has confirmed.
According to eyewitnesses, a tipper truck loaded with quarry, which was heading into Lusaka CBD from the south, slid on a bridge and overturned.
While bystanders attempted to signal the accident, a Hiace minibus reportedly came at high speed and crashed directly into the overturned truck.
As rescuers rushed to assist passengers from the minibus, another Rosa bus approached from the same direction and collided with both vehicles.
The sequence of crashes left the scene chaotic, with multiple passengers trapped and requiring urgent rescue efforts.
