The Government of the Republic of Zambia, through the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts, has appointed James Muleya as Zambia’s United Nations Youth Delegate, in a move aimed at strengthening youth representation and participation at the global level.
The appointment was made by the Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts, Hon. Elvis Nkandu, MP, and has been received as both an honour and a responsibility by Muleya. He has expressed gratitude to the Government for the confidence placed in him, noting that the opportunity reflects the Ministry’s continued commitment to empowering young people.
Muleya also acknowledged the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts, Mr. Kangwa Mwila Chileshe, for his support and leadership in advancing youth-focused programmes and initiatives.
In his new role as United Nations Youth Delegate, James Muleya is expected to represent the voices, interests, and aspirations of Zambian youth on international platforms, while advocating for inclusive dialogue, partnerships, and opportunities that promote sustainable development.
The appointment has been described as an inspiration to young people across the country, serving as a reminder that dedication, hard work, and belief in oneself can open doors to national and international opportunities.
Muleya further extended appreciation to the National Council of Students Union (NACOSU) for the encouragement and support rendered, with special mention of Consultant Mr. Edgar Silwimba, Council Chairman Mr. Chizombe, and Shadreck Mwansa Katuta.
