PRESS STATEMENT
The Road Development Agency (RDA) has commenced the mobilization of equipment to restore road connectivity at Mphamba Bridge, which provides access to Chief Chitungulu’s area in Lundazi District, Eastern Province.
Following persistent flash floods currently affecting Lundazi District, both approaches to Mphamba Bridge have been washed away. As a result, the bridge is currently impassable and unsafe for all vehicular traffic.
In response, the RDA, working with other stakeholders have joined efforts to commence emergency works. Additionally, the transportation of ACROW Bridge components from Chipata to the project site is currently underway.
Backfilling of the eroded bridge approaches and the assembly of the ACROW Bridge components are expected to commence tomorrow, weather permitting.
