I have a few important questions regarding the matter involving Archbishop Alick Banda and the DEC.

The position is simple: church leaders are part of society and therefore fall under the same laws that govern all of us. We routinely hold politicians accountable and even demand that they explain their wealth and its sources. Ordinary citizens are often summoned by the DEC without any drama or public outcry.

Are we now suggesting that church leaders should be above the law? Are we saying that only the poor and ordinary citizens should be answerable to the law? Or do church leaders enjoy immunity from legal scrutiny?
