Finance and National Planning Minister Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane says there is no provision for the government to pay interest on money owed to farmers who supplied maize to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA).

Recently, the National Association for Smallholder Farmers (NASFA) demanded that the government pay farmers with 30 percent interest for late payment of the maize they supplied to the FRA.

Meanwhile, government assured the nation that it would fully settle the debt owed to farmers who supplied maize to the FRA by January 10, 2026. In an interview, Tuesday, Dr Musokotwane said the FRA was paying at a higher price compared to briefcase buyers.
