An unknown man has died after being run over by a motor vehicle at Mopani mine dump site, in Mufulira District on the Copperbelt.
The accident occurred today at around 11: 40 hours and involved a Sino Tipper truck bearing registration number AIC 479.
Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer, Peacewell Mweemba has confirmed that the truck was being driven by Costain Munyati, aged 32, who escaped unhurt, while his passenger Victor Mwamba, aged 32 of House number H28 Kankoyo Township in Mufulira, has sustained a fractured left thigh as well as a suspected fractured right ankle and he is admitted to Ronald Ross hospital.
He explained that, the accident happened when the tipper truck was moving from South to North direction and a pedestrian who was playing on the road tried to get hold of the moving motor vehicle and in the process fell down and was run over.
