Senior Chief MAGODI of the Ngoni and Tumbuka people in Chasefu District, Eastern Province has died.
Eastern Province permanent secretary PAUL THOLE says the traditional leader died from the University Teaching Hospital -UTH- yesterday.
Mr. THOLE says the late Chief MAGODI was one of the strong pillars in executing government policies in his area.
He says chief MAGODI had a good working relationship with both government and other traditional leaders.
Mr. THOLE says government is making arrangements to repatriate the remains of the traditional leader to Eastern Province.
He says the body is expected to be in the province between Monday and Tuesday.
Meanwhile, family representative CHIFUBU BANDA says the family has been robbed of a unifier and peace maker.
Mr. BANDA says the late Chief MAGODI was able to preside peacefully over the Tumbuka and Ngoni people in his chiefdom for a long time.
The late Senior Chief MAGODI leaves behind six children and 16 grandchildren.
