Central Province Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) Regional Coordinator, Precious Miti, has urged officers in Luano District involved in satellite operations to ensure transparency in the Cash-for-Work, Drought Response Emergency Cash Transfer, Food-for-Work, and Social Cash Transfer initiatives.

Speaking during a DMMU rapid assessment meeting in Luano, Miti addressed Satellite Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) members, Community Welfare Assistance Committee (CWAC) members, Ward Development Committee (WDC) members, and Ward Councillors. She emphasized the need for proper rotation of beneficiaries to ensure fairness in the distribution of relief aid.

She reiterated that the government’s initiatives are designed to mitigate economic hardships at the household level, following the devastating dry spell experienced during the 2023–2024 farming season.

Miti further urged committee members to remain vigilant and respond promptly to disasters in the district. She called on officers and committee members to demonstrate dedication in handling unexpected emergencies, stressing that local communities rely heavily on the work of DMMU satellite committees.

She also called for collaborative efforts among authorities, stakeholders, and officers engaged in satellite operations to ensure strict monitoring of project activities under the Cash-for-Work program.
