In an emotional turn of events, four-year-old Given Nyoka has been successfully reunited with his family after a harrowing ordeal that saw him survive a road traffic accident.
Given, who was traveling with his grandfather, Mr. Piyela Nyoka, from Lundazi to Lusaka on February 14, 2025, found himself in the unfortunate situation when their vehicle was involved in a collision.
Tragically, Mr. Piyela Nyoka lost his life in the accident, leaving Given alone in a time of crisis.

Given had been on his way to Lusaka, where he was set to be enrolled in nursery school. The accident, which occurred as the pair were en route to the city, left Given in need of immediate medical care.
He was admitted to Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital (UTH), where doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals rallied together in a display of compassion and commitment to patient care.

After several days of treatment and care, Given’s recovery has been nothing short of remarkable. He has now been discharged from the hospital and has been reunited with his father, Mr. Never Nyoka, from the Chimwendo village in the Lundazi District. The young boy, showing incredible resilience, is now recovering and awaits his upcoming review dates with the hospital team.

Levy Mwanawasa UTH has expressed deep gratitude to the public for their assistance in facilitating the search for Given’s family.
