A 21 Year Old Pregnant Woman of Chingola’s Kapisha area has been s£xually assaulted by her 29 Year Old Step brother.
The incident occurred on Saturday 22nd February 2025 around 21:00 hours in Kapisha Compound.
Copperbelt Province Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba has confirmed the Incident.
Mr Mweemba has disclosed that the incident happened when the victim, who is six months pregnant, was sleeping in her bedroom at her parents’ house while her father was at work, and her stepmother was at the market for business.
He says while sleeping, the victim felt someone touching her and woke up only to discover that it was her stepbrother.
Mr Mweemba says the suspect quickly got on top of her, grabbed her by the neck, and forcefully had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
He noted that despite her struggles and screams for help, no one came to her immediate rescue.
Mr Mweemba says her 3-year-old daughter, awakened by the noise, started crying and ran outside.
This alerted a neighbor, who rushed inside the bedroom and found the suspect still in the act.
He says after realizing that people had come to assist the victim, the suspect fled the scene.
The victim was admitted to Nchanga North General Hospital from Saturday 22nd February 2025 and was discharged yesterday 28th February 2025.
Meanwhile father to the victim apprehended the suspect at Ben Farms, in Chingola where he had gone into hiding.
The suspect has since been arrested.
