(ZANIS) Police in Eastern Province say 24 Cell phones with the estimated value of K87,000 thousand were stolen during the Nc’wala commemoration period.

Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer ROBERTSON MWEEMBA says out of the 24 phones, two iPhones with an estimated value of K14,000 were recovered at the ceremony while the remaining 22 have not been recovered.

Speaking to ZANIS News, Mr. MWEEMBA said that five arrests were made in connection with the thefts.

The Commanding Officer added that seven other people were apprehended for conduct likely to breach peace and were charged and they paid.
