A lightning strike has killed one person and injured four others as they watched the retrieval of drowned bodies from the Lwena River in Kawambwa District.
Luapula Province Police Commanding Officer Mwala Yuyi confirmed the incident to Diamond Media, stating that heavy rain began just as the recovery operation was underway.
The deceased’s body has been taken to Kawambwa District Hospital mortuary, while the four injured individuals are receiving treatment at the same facility.
Meanwhile, police are yet to provide an update on the recovery of the tenth body after nine were retrieved yesterday.
