CHIKANI Boarding Secondary School Head teacher, Desteria Nyamga has thanked President Hakainde Hichilema for sending young teachers to rural schools as it does not only benefit the learners but builds the communities they serve in.
Ms Nyanga has charged that when teachers are sent to rural schools, they are not being punished but deployed for service to the nation.
She said wherever teachers were sent, they become role models to the learners and often brought along their skills or hobbies to impact the school and the community at large.
One of the teachers, Twambo Hamiyanda who teaches Mathematics and Physics has introduced Chess at the School to help sharpen the learners in critical thinking and creativity. He said Chess helps learners to be alert always and think ahead of time.
The Head of Department for Business Studies, Royce Monze said she was devoted to seeing learners who shall adapt to business skills even when they are out of school. She further said learners were equipped with business tools to tap into the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) loans or grants after leaving school.
And Geography Teacher, Justin Monga added that young minds learn by seeing, and was hopeful that some pupils will venture into farming after completing school because they saw Teacher venture into profitable farming.
Other teachers have brought their personal skills such Sports, Debate, Poetry, Farming, Poetry and JETS to a co-education boarding school in Chikankata district.
