SELECTION PROCESS OF 11,200 HEALTH WORKERS EXERTING UNDUE PRESSURE ON THE SYSTEM

The selection process for health workers to be recruited among the 11,200 as announced in the 2022 National Budget has exerted massive pressure on the system with thousands of applications in respective districts expected to be sorted, assessed and handled by a handful of human resource officers by Thursday this week.

According to some sources within the system, government has given them until Thursday this week to complete this process despite the huge volumes of applications that each team is handling from the thousands of people that are vying for the 11,200 available jobs.

And Social Anthropologist James Musonda has castigated the New Dawn Administration for planning to employ over 40,000 workers in the health and education sectors using borrowed money that has so far eluded Zambia.

Dr. Musonda says the UPND government should have opted to invest resources in key sectors that could have earned the country revenue before planning to spend borrowed money on 11,200 workers in the health sector and 30,000 teachers.

The outspoken Social Anthropologist is of the view that if the UPND continues on this trajectory of depending on borrowed money for recruitments, the incumbent political leadership risks making the past patriotic front-pf regime look as if it had a better governance system especially that government was not honest enough by commencing mass recruitments while the economy is limping.
