Traders operating along the Great North Road have voiced concern over health and business disruptions caused by dust from the ongoing construction of the Lusaka-Ndola dual carriageway.

Mary Makukula, a watermelon vendor in the area, says the heavy dust has led to increased cases of flu and other respiratory ailments among residents. She has appealed to contractors to regularly water the road to minimize dust levels.

Ms. Makukula also expressed frustration at the slow pace of the project, saying it has driven away customers. “Fewer people are stopping to buy because of the poor air quality and the general disruption,” she said.
