Principle State Prosecutor Mwangala Mwala has challenged the sick note submitted to excuse the absence of former minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Malanji in the corruption case he is jointly facing with former secretary to the Treasury Fredson Yamba.
She has argued that the document carried inconsistencies, including being issued in the name “Joe Malanji” instead of “Joseph Malanji,” and further notes that it has not specified the illness, leaving its credibility in question.
She has maintained that the doctor who authored the note should be summoned to testify,as the court must not allow vague or questionable medical certificates to be used as a tool to delay proceedings in corruption trials.
