The station announced her demise this afternoon via a Facebook post below:
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our former colleague and friend, Lungowe M Simbotwe.
Lungowe was more than just a voice on the radio – she was a passionate advocate for the youth, for the girl child, and for justice. Many of you will remember her energy on the 226 Drive, the News and the Biggie Breakfast Show, where she brought joy, laughter, and thought-provoking conversations to our airwaves.
She passed away this afternoon, and our hearts are heavy. We send our deepest sympathies to her family, friends, and everyone whose lives she touched.
May her legacy of courage and advocacy continue to inspire us all.
🕊️ Rest in Peace, Lungowe.
