Livingstone, Zambia – September 20, 2025Hundreds of eco-conscious runners gathered in the heart of Livingstone on Saturday for the Mosi Oa Tunya Green Marathon, an event aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and healthy living.
The marathon, held against the breathtaking backdrop of the iconic Victoria Falls, drew participants from across the country and beyond. The Guest of Honour was the Minister of Green Economy and Environment, Hon. Mike Mposha, who commended the initiative for aligning with Zambia’s green growth agenda.
“This marathon is not just about fitness. It’s about our commitment to preserving nature, promoting sustainable practices, and creating awareness around climate action,” said Hon. Mposha in his address to the crowd.
Also speaking at the event were the Livingstone City Mayor Nalishebo Mukelabai and Livingstone Constituency Member of Parliament, Hon. Rodney Sikumba, who both applauded the initiative for bringing the community together while reinforcing the importance of environmental stewardship.
The event was organised by the Nyika Women’s Green Foundation, which expressed sincere gratitude to all cooperating partners and sponsors for their support in making the marathon a success.
“This event would not have been possible without the generous backing of our partners,” said a representative from the Foundation. “Together, we are making strides towards a greener future.”
The Mosi Oa Tunya Green Marathon is expected to become an annual fixture, promoting not only wellness and tourism but also raising awareness on environmental issues impacting Zambia and the region.
