Lusaka, Thursday, 16th October 2025
The Ministry of Education wishes to inform all teachers and members of the public that the Government of the Republic of Zambia, through the Ministry of Agriculture, has introduced the Sustainable Agriculture Financing (SAF) Facility to support working citizens who wish to engage in productive and sustainable farming.
The SAF Facility provides affordable financing and technical assistance to formally employed citizens, including teachers, who intend to diversify their income through agricultural ventures.
The Ministry notes that some teachers have continued to apply for support under the Farmers Input Support Programme (FISP). FISP is strictly reserved for vulnerable and non-salaried small-scale farmers, and teachers are therefore strongly advised not to apply for FISP inputs or benefits.
Teachers are instead encouraged to apply under the SAF Facility, which is designed specifically for employed Zambians wishing to invest in agriculture responsibly.
The Ministry of Education, working closely with the Ministry of Agriculture, will continue to provide guidance to ensure that teachers access agricultural support through the appropriate Government channels, without compromising the objectives of either programme.
Teachers may obtain further details on the application process and eligibility from the District Agriculture Coordinator (DACO) or the nearest Ministry of Agriculture office.
