A 25-Year-Old man from Chipata District in Eastern Province, who worked as a security guard while pursuing his studies, has graduated as a midwife today.
Joshua Kalishakuku of Kapata graduated today alongside other students from various health institutions at St Francis College of Nursing and Midwifery in katete.
Mr. Kalishakuku said his journey has not been easy, explaining that he first enrolled in 2021 after getting a job as a security guard at Chipata College of Nursing and Midwifery, but had to stop due to financial difficulties as his parents are not financially stable.
He said he re-enrolled in 2022 at Chipata College of Nursing and Midwifery, working as a security guard in the evenings and attending school during the day.
Mr. Kalishakuku said he faced challenges while pursuing his studies and completed his Midwifery program in 2024.
He expressed gratitude to his parents and many others who supported him throughout his studies.
Mr. Kalishakuku also thanked Chipata City Mayor George Mwanza for the financial support that helped him a lot.
He encouraged young people and others to strive for their future, noting that everyone starts somewhere and support will come along the way.
Mr. kalishakuku considers his graduation a miracle and thanked God for making his dream a reality.
