A LECTURER at Mukuba University in Kitwe has been detained in custody for allegedly being in possession of a forged practising certificate.

Copperbelt Province police commanding officer Mwala Yuyi said Emmanuel Kalumbu admitted forging his qualification because he was desperate for a job.

Mr Yuyi said Levy Musonda, of Ndola, an inspections and compliance officer at Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ), reported on behalf of the institution.

“During the routine compliance assessment at the university, the officer discovered one of the lecturers who had applied to be employed at the institution had a forged practising certificate bearing the names Emmanuel Kalumbu,” he said.

He said police detained the lecturer for forging his qualifications.

“Police are investigating a case of forgery and uttering which happened this month at Mukuba University. The suspect was contacted and later questioned about the practising licence,” Mr Yuyi said.
