The Ministry of Energy wishes to update the nation on the progress of Zambia’s energy generation projects and address public concerns regarding electricity supply. The current project pipeline includes green city initiatives, rooftop solar projects, utility-scale renewable and thermal (coal) power projects.

So far, 347MW of new generation has been completed, notable among these are; the 100MW Chisamba Solar PV Project, 25MW Mailo Solar PV Plant in Serenje and various projects under the Net-metering initiative with a total capacity of 14.7MW. Furthermore, 29 Public (ZESCO) and Private sector led pipeline projects are currently under construction with a total capacity of 2,510MW to be commissioned within 2025 and 2026 including ZESCO Mansa Solar PV (50MW), Maamba Phase II (300MW), CEC Itimpi II (136MW) among others.A detailed list of pipeline projects expected to be commissioned in 2025 and 2026 is available and has been uploaded on the ministry of Energy Website: www.moe.gov.zm and social media pages (Ministry of Energy-Zambia). The list is made available to the public for them to appreciate government efforts in addressing the energy deficit.

The Ministry shares the concerns of Zambians on the effects of elec ` `1Qtricity load shedding and assures the nation that sustainable solutions are underway. The Ministry of Energy is confident that the ongoing projects, once completed, will stabilize electricity supply, reduce load shedding, and strengthen energy security across Zambia. The Ministry also welcomes the increasing interest from investors seeking to support Zambia in bridging its energy gap.
