A 56-year-old man from Manungu Compound in Monze has died following a head-on collision involving his north-bound Toyota Noah and a Toyota Mark X driven by a Chinese national travelling in the opposite direction.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the deceased, Michael Kamfwa, attempted an improper overtaking manoeuvre, which led to the crash.

One of his passengers, 16-year-old Michael Chanda, also of Manungu, sustained a deep cut on the right knee, a cut on the forehead, a cut in the mouth, and general body pains.

Another passenger, Julius Kaela, aged 29 and also from Manungu Compound, suffered chest pains, backache, a deep cut on the left foot, a cut on the shoulder, and general body pains.

Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Moono Namalongo, reported that the other driver involved, 61-year-old Ziang Sen of Kalundu Compound in Choma, sustained minor injuries and was treated as an outpatient at Monze Mission Hospital.
