The average daily fuel consumption increased during the period January to October 2025, with diesel usage rising to 4.9 million litres from 4.5 million litres recorded in 2024.

Petrol consumption also rose to 1.8 million litres, up from 1.6 million litres over the same period.

Speaking during the end-of-year press briefing in Lusaka today, Energy Regulation Board Director General Elijah Sichone said the increase reflects heightened activity in the transport, mining, and industrial sectors.

Mr. Sichone said the average stock cover days for diesel and petrol during the period January to December 2025 were 15.8 days and 11.8 days, respectively.

He added that the average stock cover days for kerosene stood at 10.7 days, while jet A-1 recorded 7.8 days during the same period.
