A 31-year-old Lusaka resident, Geskiel Chibesa of Kabanana Mai Chola area, is appealing to well-wishers for financial assistance as he awaits surgery for a salivary gland tumour.
Mr. Chibesa says the tumour causes him severe pain, forcing him to rely heavily on pain medication to cope with daily life.
He explains that the condition first developed in 2021 and was surgically treated in 2022, but unfortunately returned in 2023 and grew more aggressively than before.
He says due to financial constraints, he was unable to meet the cost of most medical tests and later sought help from the Department of Social Welfare, which offered some assistance.
Mr. Chibesa was later scheduled for surgery costing K7,000 but managed to raise only K2,000, leaving a significant shortfall.
Before his condition worsened, he worked as a mobile money operator and did piece jobs, but increasing pain forced him to stop working, with most of his capital now spent on medication.
