The Food Reserve Agency –FRA- says it has mobilised sufficient resources to pay all farmers who supplied maize to the agency.

FRA Executive Director JUSTIN CHUUNKA has assured that all farmers will receive their payments.

Mr. CHUUNKA spoke to ZNBC News in Chisamba after inspecting the payment process, which is being conducted through MTN mobile money transactions.

He urged farmers to embrace digital payment platforms, citing the security and efficiency they provide.

Mr. CHUUNKA added that going forward; all payments will be made via mobile money to avoid long queues at banks and to ease travel for farmers who cover long distances to access banking services.

Some farmers who have already received payments through MTN mobile money welcomed the initiative, saying it has saved them time and transport costs.

ABRAHAM MUTENGE and HELLEN MUSONDA, both from Kabwe, said in separate interviews that the digital payment system has eliminated transport challenges.

Another farmer, GERVAS MUNGONGALA, who supplied maize through the Mpelekese Depot in Chisamba, thanked the government for fulfilling its promise to pay farmers by January 10.
