Lusaka, Zambia, May 14th, 2026 β€” Yango Food, part of the global tech company Yango Group, hosted a special Mother’s Day celebration for women partner couriers who are mothers, as well as the wives of male partner couriers in Lusaka. The event brought families together for an afternoon focused on appreciation, family bonding, and celebrating the role mothers play both at home and within Zambia’s growing digital economy.

The gathering created an opportunity for partner couriers and their families to spend quality time together in a relaxed environment, with children enjoying access to the restaurant’s play area while guests were treated to food and refreshments. The event recognized the sacrifices and resilience of mothers who continue to support their families while partnering through the platform or supporting loved ones who do.

This initiative reflects Yango Food’s continued commitment to supporting the wellbeing of partner couriers and fostering a stronger sense of community beyond day-to-day platform activity. The event also highlighted the growing number of women entering the delivery sector and using digital platforms to create flexible earning opportunities for themselves and their families.

β€œMother’s Day is an important moment to recognize and appreciate the women who continue to support families and communities every day,” said Kabanda Chewe, Country Head for Yango Zambia. β€œThis event was about creating a meaningful experience for women partner couriers who are mothers, as well as the wives of male partner couriers, and giving them an opportunity to simply enjoy time with their children and families.”

Enala Mhlanga, a partner courier using the platform, said making deliveries through Yango Food has helped her better manage both her family responsibilities and her earnings.

β€œUsing the platform has helped me increase my earnings while also giving me flexibility with my time as a mother. I am able to plan my day better and still be there for my children when they need me,” she said. β€œAt first, some people would say this is not something women should do, but I genuinely enjoy being a partner courier. It has helped me support my family and become more independent. I hope that one day I can get my own motorbike because I know it would help me increase my earnings even more and grow further.”

The Mother’s Day celebration adds to Yango Food’s broader community and partner-focused initiatives in Zambia. Earlier this year, Yango Food marked International Women’s Month by distributing hampers to women partner drivers, food couriers, passengers, marketeers and other women across Lusaka in recognition of their contribution to their families and communities. Yango Food has also continued to engage customers through interactive campaigns and giveaways, including its recent phone giveaway campaign, which rewarded customers with the chance to win iPhone 17 devices through food orders placed on the platform.
