The Zambia National Service Commander Lieutenant General Engineer Maliti Solochi II, accompanied by the Deputy ZNS Commander and Chief of Staff Major General Reuben Mwewa, yesterday led a team of Zambia National Service Heads of Branches and Generals, on an inspection tour of sanitation and water reticulation works being undertaken at the University of Zambia.
During the tour, the delegation was briefed on the progress of the project and the deliberate incorporation of students pursuing engineering-related programmes, to give them practical industry exposure while also enabling them to earn an income.
The ZNS Commander applauded the initiative to incorporate students and expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded so far, urging the construction team to intensify efforts in order to facilitate the speedy restoration of a conducive learning environment and the resumption of normal academic life at the country’s highest learning institution.
Works were advancing steadily, with the installation of new toilet pans in all ablution blocks completed while laying of sewer pipes was still in progress.
