Police in the Central East region have arrested 28-year-old Wyson Levison in connection with the murder of Chipiliro Laston, a person with albinism, which occurred in Lilongwe this past March.
Regional Police Spokesperson Foster Benjamin confirmed the arrest, stating that investigative officers apprehended the suspect in the Mchitanjiru area of Lilongwe, where he had allegedly been hiding since the crime was committed.
According to police, Levison has confessed to participating in the murder of Laston. He further admitted to concealing parts of the victim’s remains and is expected to lead authorities to the location where the bones were hidden in the coming days.
This arrest follows a ruling last Thursday by the Lilongwe Magistrate’s Court, which sentenced Mussa Masano to 21 years in prison after he was found guilty of being in possession of Chipiliro Laston’s bones.
The suspect, Wyson Levison, is a resident of Bwakatantha Village, under Traditional Authority Masumbankhunda, in Lilongwe District.
