Three pupils from Nasiwayo Primary School in Nalolo District have been stabbed by an intruder who wanted to go into a restricted area for girls.
Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said the suspect has been apprehended.
“Muoyo Police Station of Nalolo District on July 15, 2022 at around 22:45 hours received three reports of unlawful wounding from M/ Kadeey Siyengo aged 42, a teacher at Nasiwayo Primary School, who reported on behalf of three Grade Seven pupils from the same school who sustained the following injuries:
1. A Male Juvenile aged 17 of Nasiwayo Village Chief Nalopu in Nalolo District, who was stabbed with a knife and sustained a deep cut on the lower abdomen,
2. A Male Juvenile aged 16 of Nasiwayo Village Chief Nalopu in Nalolo District, who was stabbed with a knife and sustained a deep cut on his left lower back,
3. A Male Juvenile aged 16 of Muoyo Village Chief Nalopu in Nalolo District, who was stabbed with a knife and sustained a deep cut on the lower left abdomen,” Mr Hamoonga stated.
He stated that the three were stabbed by a male aged 19 of Muoyo Village Chief Nalopu in Nalolo District who has been apprehended.
Mr Hamoonga stated that later, the three were referred to Lewanika General Hospital for treatment.
He stated that two juveniles, both aged 16, were in a serious condition.
“Brief facts of the matter are that on July 15, 2022, the three victims were among the pupils who were participating in an Inter schools competition held at Muoyo Primary School. Then around 22:10hrs, they spotted the suspect with his friend heading towards the school girls’ restricted sleeping quarters. They notified their teacher and confronted the two suspects, who were discovered that they were outsiders. They tried to apprehend them. One of them ran away but the suspect was caught and in the process drew out a knife from his pocket and stabbed the three pupils,” Mr Hamoonga stated.
He stated that he was later overpowered by other pupils, apprehended and taken to the police station, together with the knife he used.
“After detaining the suspect, the three pupils were given medical report forms and conveyed in an ambulance to Lewanika General Hospital for treatment. The suspect has been charged with three counts of unlawful wounding and detained in police custody,” Mr Hamoonga stated.
