Vice-President W.K. Mutale Nalumango has asked pharmaceutical companies involved in the procurement, supply and distribution of medicines in the country to cut out middlemen to save Government money.
The Vice-President says eliminating third party players in the distribution and supply of essential drugs will save Government huge sums of money and ensure quality of medicines is not compromised.
“My appeal is that can we start direct engagement,” the Vice-President said.
Mrs Nalumango said Zambia has continued to experience the challenge of lack of essential drugs in most health facilities countrywide.
She said Government is keen to collaborate and partner with serious and responsible companies following the prioritisation of health by the new regime.
According to a report published by the Zambia daily mail, Nalumango said this when she toured Torrent Pharmaceutical Company.
