FATHER’S ANGUISH OVER RUNAWAY DAUGHTER

Like a prodigal son in the Bible who strayed away from his father’s loving and protective arms, a 14-year-old girl of Lusaka has been reunited with her father 40 days after running away from home.

The juvenile, who is in Grade Seven at a named private school in Makeni, had disappeared from her father’s home to go and live with her 32-year-old boyfriend.

John Phiri was reunited with his daughter on June 13, 2022.

According to a report published by Zambia Daily Mail, after a long search for his beloved first-born daughter in mortuaries, hospitals and dumpsites in different areas, Mr Phiri found his daughter at a house in Kanyama Township in a four-room house with another teenage girl.

After enquiries from neighbours, Mr Phiri discovered that the girls actually were staying in two rooms each with their boyfriends who are believed to be friends and known to be notorious gang members in Kanyama.

“I did not really know what to do, I did not know whether I should beat her for making me pass through hardships and challenges while looking for her.
