(BBC) African leaders are now arriving at Nairobi’s Kasarani Stadium for William Ruto’s swearing in ceremony.

Local media had reported that 20 African heads of state were expected to attend the swearing in.

Kenya is a key strategic partner in East Africa and the larger African continent.

Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu and Eswatini Prime Minister Cleopas Dlamini have arrived.

Others who have driven into the cheer-filled stadium are Seychelles’ President Wavel Ramkalawan and Burundi’s Évariste Ndayishimiye.

Malawi’s President Lazarus Chakwera and Guinea Bissau’s Umaro Sissoco Embaló have also arrived.
