Mazabuka district has in the first quarter of 2022 recorded close to 300 cases of Gender Based Violence-GBV.
Southern Province Health Promotions Officer, Winford Siamufunde, disclosed on a pecial radio programme hosted by Byta FM Radio on Tuesday that 296 cases of those recorded occurred in the first quarter of 2022.
Mr. Siamufunde explained that out of 296 cases, 283 where against women and 13 where against men.
And Mazabuka One Stop Centre for GBV Officer, Flair Mweene, called on residents in the district to report GBV cases, noting that several such happenings are not stated.
Meanwhile, Mazabuka School of Nursing Lecturer, Newton Mudenda, noted with concern the increase in sexually transmitted diseases due to GBV.
