Government is expected to buy 50,000 metric tonnes of Fertiliser from Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia this year.

Agriculture Minister, REUBEN PHIRI said the fertiliser will be used by over One Thousand farmers who are on Food input Support Program-FISP.

According to ZNBC, Mr. PHIRI said government has set aside 6 Hundred and 84 Million Kwacha to recapitalise the company for production of Fertiliser.

He has disclosed that 480 Million Kwacha has already been released to Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia.

Mr PHIRI further explained that the balance of 200 Million Kwacha will be released when NCZ submit the type of equipment they need for production process.

He said production is currently under way.Mr PHIRI was responding to a Kanchibiya Member of Parliament SUNDAY CHANDA who wanted to know whether Government has any plans to recapitalise the Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia.

This was during question for Oral Answer Session in the National Assembly.

During the deliberations, Pambeshe Member of Parliament RONALD CHITOTELA wondered how part of the funds was released to NCZ when they were still doing the processing of documentation for buying equipment.And, Chiengi Member of Parliament GIVEN KATUKA also wanted to know if NCZ has is capacity to produce such fertiliser.

Mr PHIRI assured the nation that NCZ has been allowed to produce 50metric tones of Fertiliser looking at the investment that Government has done.
