ROMA Girl’s Secondary School Alumnae MAZYANGA LIWEWE has urged learners to be more determined, focused and to embrace hardwork in their academic pursuits.
Addressing scores of learners at Roma Girl’s Secondary School in Lusaka during the grade 12 achievement awards ceremony , Ms. MAZABA LIWEWE advised learners to adopt a positive lifestyle that will not only contribute to their grades but also their physical, mental and economic well-being.
Mrs MAZYANGA also Zambia National Public Health Institute-ZNPHI director for communications, information and research recounted her success story and advised learners to aim high in their academics adding that everything is possible through hardwork.

She did say that it wasn’t an easy journey but consistently picking up the pieces contributed to her success.
“It is great to have fun and yes, you deserve it! It is well as long as you are not hurting yourself or others, you should have some fun, responsible fun! As you go out there.
“…recognise your strengths and weaknesses, learn to observe what opportunities around you are relevant to your strengths and utilize them to yours and other people’s benefits,’ she said.
She encouraged learners to take stock of their surroundings , exploit opportunities and to manage threats to their set goals.
“Deal with the threats timely. As I end, I want to congratulate you for finalising your secondary education. Well done! I wish I could award you all with physical gifts but its beyond my pocket,” she added.
And Roma Girl’s Association also known as the “EROGANS”, Chairperson MARGRET NHLANE has called on the outgoing pupils to plough back into the school as they go out into the society.
Ms. Mazaba Liwewe did however give the three top overall awardees ‘thinking hats’ and gift vouchers from Book World worth K200 each.
Mrs NHLANE, Chairperson of the Ex Roma Girls’ Association says so far the association has helped so many vulnerable pupils attain their education through the yearly subscription and has since encouraged the graduating learners to join the cause.
Meanwhile Roma Girl’s Secondary School Deputy Headteacher EDGAR SHILUWE has described the girls’ performance at a school as impressive.
Mr SILUWE has appealed for policy reforms that will empower girls countrywide.
He bemoaned early marriages that rock other parts of the country describing the situation as a deterrent that inhibits girls from realizing their full potential.
Best performing students walked away with various awards.
