MY name is Lydia Malima and I live in Lusaka.
I got married when I was young.
At first everything seemed to be perfect and I loved my husband so much.
Problems in my marriage started after it became clear that I could not bear children.
We went to different hospitals and had numerous medical tests but still I couldn’t conceive.
My husband then started seeing another woman who he later impregnated. This made me even more sad and we ended up divorcing.
My husband then went on to marry the same woman he had impregnated.
I became depressed and attempted su*cide twice because I could not understand why all my close friends were happily married and they were able to have children.
After attempting su*cide twice one of my cousins took me to her Church for counselling.
And after going through counselling I accepted my situation and finally moved on with my life.
And as time went by , I met and fell in love with Martin Malima. I met him at the time he was doing his final year at Kwame Nkrumah university in Kabwe.
Martin graduated and got a job as a teacher at one of the private schools in Lusaka.
And after dating for a year Martin and I got married.I stayed in Marriage for three years without having a child.
We then went to a private hospital were I was told that I have Hormone issue that prevents ovulation, I was told that the chances of having a child were zero.
And despite his family pressuring him to divorce me and look for another woman who would be able to give him children , Martin never abandoned me.
By the grace of God I managed to conceive three years into marriage and gave birth to a healthy baby boy.I was so happy and I thanked God for the miracle.
Last year in 2021 government advertised over 30,000 job vacancies for teachers.
Martin applied and he was among the over 30,000 teachers who were selected and he was posted to Nyimbe in Eastern province.
After he received his Job offer letter he left for Nyimba to meet his new workmates and to also look for accomodation.
He returned home after a week, complaining of a headache, chest pain and fever.
The next day he got very sick and I rushed him to chilenje level one hospital were he died a day later.
A week later my son also got sick and died at home as I was preparing to take him to the hospital.
My life is now shattered and life will never be the same again. This is contained in a report published by Mwebantu Trendsetters.
