The Ministry of Health in Choma has reported that a religious grouping is completely shunning conventional medicine including anti-retroviral therapy while also prohibiting women from accessing antenatal services or giving birth from health facilities.
The religious sect, with roots in Zimbabwe and branches in Choma, has a belief that God has given them natural healing ability and, therefore, there is no need to seek medical services from health facilities or consume processed medicines. This is contained in a report published by Zambia Daily Mail.
