Maamba Collieries Limited is Wednesday expected to resume feeding the national grid with 150 megawatts of electricity.

This follows President Hakainde Hichilema’s recent intervention which led the thermal plant to shorten its maintenance period.

Energy Minister Peter Kapala says Maamba Collieries Limited is Tuesday running stabilization tests ahead of resumption of electricity generation on Wednesday.

In a statement issued to ZNBC News this afternoon, Mr. Kapala said the decision by Maamba Collieries to resume its electricity supply is aimed at reducing the impact of loadshedding on Zambians.

Mr. Kapala says the scheduled maintenance at Maamba Collieries Limited started on 4th January and was supposed to end on 20th January. This is contained in a report published by ZNBC.
