Vice President Mutale Nalumango says government does not have money to subsidize fuel.
Speaking when she featured on the Friday’s edition of the “Let People Talk Programme” on Phoenix FM this morning, Mrs. Nalumango says the available resources have gone to the provision of free education, quality health service delivery and other sectors.
She however states that the government is now clearing the Indeni Oil Pipeline to ensure cheap transportation of fuel and will result in reduced fuel prices for the country.
Meanwhile, the Vice President has noted the need for Zambia to be careful with how it manages the available maize stocks if the country is to avoid experiencing food shortages.
Mrs. Nalumango is of the view that while the country is food secure and has adequate maize stocks, the weather patterns experienced lately entails the need for the country to ensure it does not deplete available stocks.
She explains that even the exports of the commodity recently conducted were controlled.
And Mrs. Nalumango has charged that the new dawn government based its promises on improving the welfare of the people, on conditions that prevailed at 2021 when it was preparing to come to power. This is contained in a report published by PHOENIX NEWS.
