The Lusaka Magistrate court has given a 28-year-old man of Chinese decent a restraining order after he allegedly threatened to kill his 34-year-old girlfriend with a knife.
Huang Yawen is alleged to have on May 27th, this threatened Wang Yin by telling her that “I will kill you,” whilist holding a knife.
According to Mwebantu, When the matter came up before magistrate Mbuywana Sinvula, Yawen pleaded not guilty to the charge of threatening violence.
In court when called to the stand to make an application for a restraining order, the victim asked court to Grant her the same as she was scared.
“I was talking to him about some normal things, but he wanted to beat me and he was also using insulting language. He always wants to beat me and talks about wanting to kill me, so I am asking the court for protection. He is my boyfriend and we have a child together who is Seven months old,” she said.
However, Yawen told court that he did not do what he was being accused of and went on to tell court that he had witnesses to help him prove the same.
Magistrate Sinvula in her ruling ordered the accused not to be in contact with the victim and asked him to restrain himself from being near her until after proceedings had taken place.
“The accused should also vacate the house and should leave it for the victim and their child until proceedings. If he goes against the this, police bond will be revoked,” she said.
She then set commencement of trail for July 20, this year.
