Economic Freedom Fighters -EFF- leader KASONDE MWENDA has presented himself to the police.

Zambia Police Deputy spokesperson DANNY MWALE has confirmed to ZNBC news that Mr. KASONDE presented himself at 15:00 hours today.

Mr. MWALE said the EFF leader is detained in Police custody charged with the offence of Unlawful Assembly and yet to be formally charged with the offence of Escape from Lawful custody.

Yesterday, Police launched a manhunt for Mr. MWENDA who is alleged to have disappeared during the protest which various opposition groups held from the Lusaka Civic Centre to the Lusaka Central Police.

He said Police were looking for him as he is the one who notified them ahead of the protest.

On Friday, Police arrested 23 people who took part in the protest for unlawful assembly.

The 23, who include four women, are in Police custody and will appear in court soon.
